Process: Design Process

Once half of the design fee is paid, we will start the design process. The design process involves taking all the information we have gathered from our in-home consultation and putting together one to three preliminary design proposals, with a quote from us to provide the work based on those designs. This part of the process usually takes about two weeks, but it may take longer depending upon the scale and scope of the design.

Once completed, we will contact you to come into our showroom to present the designs we have created on our Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) program. We will also present our quote to provide the work. During this showroom meeting, you will be able to make any changes to the designs that you wish. We allow a reasonable amount of changes, which will be explained in your design fee agreement. We will email the changes back and forth until we have reached the design you have envisioned.

Once the design you have envisioned is achieved, we will begin finalizing all the drawings. Finalizing includes the floor plan, elevations, and interpretive drawings that we create on our CAD program. It also includes sending it in for any necessary structural engineering. This process usually takes two weeks, but it may take longer depending on the scale and scope of the design as well as how many changes were made during the preliminary design process. The scale of the project will determine what size paper the designs are printed on, and we will create a PDF of the designs to allow you to make more copies.

At this point you will pay the remainder of the design fee, and we will release the final plans to you. We will also give you a firmer quote based on the final designs.
